Uzbekistan Currency - Uzbek Sum

National currency of Uzbekistan is Sum and Tiyin. Tiyin is being used only in bank calculations and barely in real trade. Also, in Summer 2019 50-Sum and 100-Sum banknotes were taken out of usage. They were removed with coins made in 2018 year instead. All the banknotes look different and have the most known cultural and historical objects drawn on them. The newest one is 100 000 Sum and it's devoted to Mirzo Ulughbek a famous Uzbek astronomer, the grandson of Amir Temur. The bill is also decorated with Solar system drawings done in gold and green colors. Uzbekistan had problems with exchanging money back in 2000x when it was possible only for tourists. Nowadays the issue is gone and you can freely exchange your cash or card in any ATM or bank. We suggest you to do it in a bank because ATMs have their own exchange rate, or they don’t have enough bills to cash out. However, exchanging your money with some individuals in the backyard on a private basis is prohibited and could cause a criminal case.
