Haftkul Valley is a unique complex of seven lakes with transparent turquoise water, located Zerafshan Valley in Tajikistan. The lakes are located along Shing River. The lowest river is at an altitude of 1,598 m above sea level, while the highest - at an altitude of 2,400 m. Marguzor lakes, or as they are sometimes called Seven Beauties of Shing are beautiful with unusual color of its water. Chemical substances give water a blue color. One of the seven lakes is called Husher, which translates as “vigilance”. It is called like this because there are poisonous snakes. Another lake Hazorchashma ("Thousand Springs") was formed because of springs and small streams.
According to the legend, a blacksmith lived in the valley, which had seven daughters. Local governor fell in love with the youngest daughter, and of course he proposed her to marry him. Her father wasn’t against but the young girl did not want to live with old ruler, therefore she said: “I will marry you if you build beautiful palace for 40 days”. Despite the implementation of the contract, girl jumped from the roof of the palace on the wedding day. The lake Mizhgon appeared at the place where she fell down, while the other six lakes were formed from the tears of her sisters. Birches, poplars and sea buckthorn grow on the shore of the lakes.
Marguzor lakes are called one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Haftkul Valley is attractive not only mountains, lakes and rivers, but also history and sacred places.
