One of the unusual monuments of ancient Khorezm is the mausoleum Mazlumhan Sulu. Its story is interesting ad at the same time very tragic. The mausoleum is located in the western part of the northern half of the hill Mizdahkan necropolis.
According to the legend, once the ruler of Khorezm decided to build a majestic building in his town. Young architect, who built this majestic building, saw a beautiful girl and fell in love with her. But as she was the ruler’s daughter, she refused him in love. But she said that she would love him if he fell from the top of the mausoleum. Without any hesitation master granted her wish and died. After she saw how much he was fell in love with her and fell from the very minaret.
Originally, the mausoleum was underground necropolis, where the daughter of the ruler was buried. Later there were made other graves. There is a central room with several niches decorated with beautiful designs inside the mausoleum. It is considered that architectural monument Mazlumhan Sulu is the place of origin of the ancient cult.
