Tourism in KarakalpakstanThis week Karakalpakstan Tourism Conference was held in Nukus, the main city of the region. Leading tourist companies of Uzbekistan and national company “Uzbekturizm” took part in the Conference. They discussed their experience of working in the region and basic problems. The main subject of the Conference was future of tourism in Karakalpakstan.

Leading expert of the market reported that tourist’s interest to Karakalpakstan is growing. Tourists are interested to visit unusual archaeological sites, get to know more about the history of region. So tourist sector slowly rises.

There’re more than 500 tourists sites in Karakalpakstan and most of them are ancient settlements like Toprak-kala, Kizil-kala and others. Tour programs also include visiting archaeological complex Mizdaxkan, fortress Djanbas-kala and others. But the State Museum of Art named after I. V. Savicky is the main place that attract many tourists from different countries.
