Bukhara - Khiva Train

The fast train Bukhara – Khiva – Bukhara was launched as a part of the project to prolong the Great Silk Road touristic railway routes, besides famous Afrosiab and Sharq trains, aimed to connect Bukhara and Khiva as two large historical and cultural cities of Uzbekistan.

The train became quite popular among both the locals and the tourists as it is often considered as the most optimal travel variant. The train has several advantages: it is more saving and regular than domestic flights Urgench-Bukhara, and cheaper and less time-consuming than the direct transfer of about 7 hours long one-way drive from Bukhara to Khiva.

The trains Bukhara – Khiva/ Khiva – Bukhara are widely used for seasonal budget packages and train tours around Uzbekistan, especially in summer and winter, as a convenient railway trip is the best substitution for long day transfer via Kyzylkum desert passing the Amu Darya River.
