A festival of kebabs is going to take place in Kashkadarya, Uzbekistan
In April, in the Guzar district of Kashkadarya region, the first festival "Lola wa kabob sayli" ("Poppy and Kebabs Festival") will be held. It will be organized on the hills, which at this time are covered with blooming poppies.
Tandoor kebab, or 'tandoor go'sht', is considered as a special dish of the region. The meat baked in tandoor along with branches of alpine juniper as a spice is prepared here by many chefs, but ten of the most experienced will take part in the festival. The jury will have to choose the best range among them.
Most tandoor meat is done from mutton. Beef tandoors are less popular because of the dry taste.
